Position Summary:
The Test Supervisor will lead all test operations within our Palatine facility, ensuring efficient execution of test processes, high product quality, and minimal production downtime. This role is responsible for supervising Test Engineers and Technicians while driving continuous improvement in test yield, efficiency, and reliability.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both technical expertise and strong team management capabilities in a fast-paced EMS environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Test Engineers and Test Technicians.
  • Plan staffing and resources to meet daily and long-term production goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and skill development initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Test Operations Execution:
  • Oversee all testing activities including Functional Test (FCT), ICT, and system-level testing.
  • Ensure all test stations and equipment are fully operational and optimized.
  • Monitor key metrics such as first pass yield (FPY), retest rates, and downtime.
  • Provide immediate escalation support for production test issues.

Process Improvement & Yield Enhancement:
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive initiatives to improve test coverage, reduce false failures, and increase throughput.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices (Kaizen, 5S, continuous improvement).
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve test strategies and fixtures.

Technical Oversight:
  • Support development, validation, and maintenance of Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Review and approve test plans, procedures, and documentation.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure robust troubleshooting support for complex electronic assemblies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Production teams to ensure alignment.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds and test readiness.
  • Interface with customers on test-related concerns, improvements, and requirements.

Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for test procedures, changes, and results.
  • Support internal and external audits related to manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of:
  • Functional Testing (FCT), ICT, and system-level testing.
  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Electronics troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret: Schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with test software, programming, and data analysis tools preferred.

Leadership & Soft Skills:
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing test environment (EMS preferred).
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ATE systems and production test processes required.
